IN THE BEGINNING

The company has evolved over the past 60 years from a small family-owned founding business, Tongariro Timber, based at National Park and processing native logs, into Taranakipine based in New Plymouth processing plantation-grown Radiata Pine.

Our people

Taranakipine believes our team is our future. We invest heavily in company-wide training, developing skills in advanced processing technology. A culture of continual improvement prevails, which ensures competitive manufacturing processes are developed with input from the entire team.

Technology

We are constantly investing in new technology to enable Taranakipine to be more profitable, with emphasis on maximising the volume of timber cut from each log, increasing overall productivity and enabling greater capacity on site. The latest investments we have made include an automated scanning cutline and high speed structural finger joints.

Taranaki & the environment

We draw the majority of our logs from the Taranaki region, and work closely with local forest owners and suppliers to ensure the quality of raw material. Timber is a renewable product source and all our New Zealand Radiata pine logs come from sustainable managed, renewable plantation forests.

Research & development

As well as researching and developing new products, Taranakipine is always looking at ways to improve existing products. Our emphasis is on improving structural performance, developing superior coating systems and improving durability treatment processes.
