Decking

Treatment

Taranakipine decking is treated to H3.2 with CCA (Copper Chrome Arsenic). This treatment has been used in NZ since the 1950’s and is a common form of treatment for radiata pine in outdoor environments. The chemicals bond to the cells of the timber with very low leaching levels.

Grading

Decking is produced from a “Premium” timber grade. This means there are some allowable natural timber features on the face of the board. This includes tight intergrown knots (up to 1/3rd of the width), tight bark encased knots (less than 10mm diameter) and small resin and bark pockets (3mm wide, 25mm long). Before decking is profiled, we select the best face of the board and this is used for the top face. Grip tread boards are graded to the grip tread face. Likewise, smooth boards are graded to the smooth face.
